4th Edition Amender Marathon postponed to May 11

The Ibadan City Marathon tagged Amender Marathon Run for the youths and students 4th edition scheduled  to hold on April 27th 2024 has been shifted to 11th of May 2024 due to local government elections in Oyo state.

The Amender Marathon Run is an event that brings together runners especially those with disabilities, communities and organisations to promote health, wellness and environmental conservation and to raise hope in people living with disability.

It offers participants a unique and challenging athletic experience with distance ranging from 3KM Males and Females Run, 5KM Males and Females Run, 2KM Special Athletes Inclusive among others.

Amender Marathon is here again, the 4th Edition of Amender marathon will be massive as we’ll have various categories of athletes participating in the 2km, 3km and 5km run with lots of mouthwatering prizes.

The 2km run is for disabled athletes (Wheelchair Race) 3km for Secondary School Students both male and female category and 5km adult race for male and female athletes .

Amender marathon 2024 holds on the 11th of May 2024,

The 2km Disabled Athletes starting point is Arometa junction, 3km Secondary school students race starts at WAEC junction poly road, while 5km Adult Race starts at sango and finishing point for all is Awwarul Islam Grammer school Eleyele Ibadan.

Prizes for All finishers of the race and cash prizes for winners of each categories will be officiated by Oyo state Sports council.

Participants are urged to obtain their  form at Amender centre, No 2 Omotosho Street, Benjamen, Eleyele, Ibadan.

The organiser, Ahmed Kayode rallied for participation in large number to promote health awareness.

“We look forward to welcoming runners from all over Oyo State and beyond to this magnificent event,” Kayode said.

He noted that the event is expected to bring runners of all levels, from amateur to elite, and has been widely praised for its well-organised and well-supported race.

“We are also welcoming partnerships and collaborations with interested local and international sports organisations, environmental organisations, and corporate sponsors, which will provide valuable support in terms of funding, marketing and volunteer recruitment.

Pochettino bow out of Chelsea after 11 months in charge.

Chelsea gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has left his role by mutual consent.

The Argentine, who had only been in the job for 11 months, guided Chelsea to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League this season.

Pochettino led a youthful Blues side to the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semi-finals, and despite a season largely of struggles, ended the Premier League campaign with five successive wins to secure European football with a sixth-place finish.

A statement released on Tuesday read: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways.”

Pochettino said: “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Also, assistant coaches Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino also depart.
