N17.67 billion lost to fraud in 2023
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System’s ‘Annual Fraud Landscape’ report, from January to December 2023, revealed 17.67 billion naira were lost to fraudsters in the year.
Over 80,658 bank customers in 2023 were successfully scammed by fraudsters. The fraudsters targeted age ranges from 40 and above, using mobile banking as the means of scamming people

Report shows that Lagos state recorded the highest number of fraud cases (48 percent of the total) and suffered the most financial losses (49 percent).
