A Ruben Dias own goal and Rodrygo’s effort put Madrid in front early on after Bernardo Silva’s clever free-kick for City, but the hosts needed Valverde to level the match after the Premier League champions hit back through Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol.

Fede Valverde’s thumping volley salvaged a dramatic 3-3 draw for Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first leg against holders Man City on Tuesday.

Bukayo Saka’s opener for the Premier League leaders was cancelled out by former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry, with Harry Kane’s penalty putting Bayern ahead just past the half hour.

Leandro Trossard came off the bench to score the equaliser for Arsenal in a 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
